As a candidate for Euless City Council, Place 1, please allow me to introduce myself and possibly clear up some items regarding my position on some things.
Some citizens believe that I am not worthy to serve on the council because they can’t find my name on any committee roster as a volunteer. I prefer to keep what I do for someone private because I believe it is between God and me. No one earns his or her way into heaven. In short, I do things for the people…not for the recognition or the t-shirt. Euless has great volunteers and I admire their contributions. That alone however, does not qualify someone to serve on the council.
Word has it that I only support Police, Fire and Public Works, but not any projects or amenities such as our Senior Center, Indoor and Outdoor Aquatic Center, as well as any other project that might benefit our citizens. It has also been reported to me by employees of the city, they are being told they would either lose their benefits or their jobs if I were elected. These statements are far from the truth. As a small business owner, my goal is to increase jobs, not reduce them. I do not have a goal of reducing city services, but adding to what we already have when the budget allows. Every decision should be made with the citizens in mind.
I take individuals that want to work for themselves and along with helping them improve their skills, involve them in business decisions that can give them a better chance of survival when they do decide to start their own business. Getting input from others is crucial to the success of a business and I believe that the same approach should be carried to serving on City Council. I do not believe that currently, any of our council members are small business owners with employees. Because of this, I bring a unique set of skills to the council.
I believe that a common sense approach to any problem will yield a common sense solution.
